Miami Masters: Molcan hands Medvedev walkover into last 16
Daniil Medvedev benefited from the forfeit of Alex Molcan on Monday night and will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Quentin Halys and American Mackenzie McDonald in the next round
Daniil Medvedev has already booked his round of 16 slot at the Miami Open, the fourth-seeded Russian going through via walkover after Alex Molcan pulled out due to injury.
Medvedev, ranked No 5, will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Quentin Halys and American Mackenzie McDonald next.
The Russian won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-1, 6-2) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of the Miami Open, Molcan, ranked No 56, beat Australian qualifier Jordan Thompson (6-2, 4-6, 6-3) and Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, the No 28 seed (7-6 (5), 1-6, 6-2).
