Miami Masters: McDonald books spot in second round

American Mackenzie McDonald won against Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan 6-4, 6-2 to move into the second round of the Miami Masters at the Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday evening.
The former UCLA Bruin improves to 7-0 in first-round matches in 2023 with his 13th win of the season.
McDonald, ranked No 55, will play No 19 seed Matteo Berrettini next.
The Italian owns a 2-0 lifetime edge over McDonald with hard court wins against the California native in Auckland in 2019 and Naples last season.
