Mannarino takes down Hurkacz to reach fourth round at Miami Masters
The bottom half of the Miami draw continues to produce surprises, as Adrian Mannarino ousted Hubert Hurkacz in the third round on Monday. Mannarino will go up against either Christopher Eubanks or Gregoire Barrere.
Adrian Mannarino is through to the last 16 at the Miami Open, and from the looks of things he may not be done yet.
Mannarino maintained his red-hot form by upsetting No 8 seed Hubert Hurkacz 7-6(5), 7-6(0) on Monday evening. The Frenchman will face an unseeded opponent on Tuesday with a spot in the quarter-finals at stake. It will be either Gregoire Barrere or Christopher Eubanks.
Mannarino preceded Monday’s victory with defeats of wild card Juncheng Shang (1-6, 6-4, 6-2) and No 32 seed Ben Shelton (6-4, 3-6, 6-1).
Hurkacz, ranked ninth and the Miami champion in 2021, battled past lucky loser Thanasi Kokkinakis (6-7(10), 7-6(7), 7-6(6)).
