Khachanov into Miami semis and Medvedev looms

Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 14 seed, moved into the semi-finals of the Miami Masters by defeating Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 25 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday evening.

Khachanov, ranked No 16, will play Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 4 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, the Russian won against Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry (6-1, 3-6, 6-3), Czech Jiri Lehecka (6-2, 6-4) and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed (7-6 (4), 6-4).

Cerundolo, ranked No 31, beat American lucky loser Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-4, 6-4), Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 5 seed (6-2, 7-5) and Italian Lorenzo Sonego (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
