Eubanks continues dream run in Miami, clinches top 100 debut
Christopher Eubanks is through to the fourth round of a Masters 1000 event for the first time in his career. He will also break into the top 100.
Christopher Eubanks has been working double duty at the Miami Open, commentating for the Tennis Channel while also playing in the tournament.
But he hasn’t let anything distract him from the task at hand, and now a week into the tournament the world No 119 is still playing. Eubanks booked a spot in the fourth round by beating Gregoire Barrere 6-3, 7-6(7) on Monday night.
Eubanks has a decent opportunity to reach the quarter-finals, too, as another unseeded Frenchman is next up for him. It will be Adrian Mannarino after the lefty upset Hubert Hurkacz earlier on Monday.
Prior to getting past Barrere, Eubanks qualified for the main draw and then defeated Denis Kudla (7-6(2), 6-2) and Croat Borna Coric, the No 17 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Barrere, ranked No 65, previously got the best of Roman Safiullin (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) and No 11 seed Cameron Norrie (6-3, 6-2).
