Mexican Open: Ruud back in top 10 as he goes through to quarters to face Shelton
The Norwegian beat Dusan Lajovic 6-4, 7-5 in the second round on Wednesday
Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 6 seed, won against Serb Dusan Lajovic 6-4, 7-5 to reach the last eight of the Mexican Open at the Princess Mundo Imperial Resort in Acapulco on Wednesday.
Ruud, ranked No 11, will face American Ben Shelton next. The Norwegian defeated American Chris Eubanks (6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3) prior to his win today.
With the win, Ruud will be back in the Top 10 for the first time since November next week. The former world No 2 is now 11-2 for the season with this win.
In the previous round of the tournament, Lajovic, ranked No 55, beat Mexican wildcard Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez (6-2, 6-2).
