Mackenzie McDonald reached the second round of the Mexican Open by winning against Italian lucky loser Luciano Darderi 6-4, 6-2 at the Princess Mundo Imperial in Acapulco on Tuesday night.
McDonald, who will face fellow American Brandon Nakashima next, would have played against No 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz on Tuesday but Alcaraz withdrew after dealing with a leg injury in Rio de Janeiro.
