Jacopo Berrettini joins his brother in Acapulco second round as Otte retires
There are two Berrettinis in the Acapulco second round, and both advanced via retirement. Jacopo Berrettini advanced when Oscar Otte called it quits.
Italian qualifier Jacopo Berrettini advanced to the second round of the Mexican Open when German Oscar Otte retired at the Princess Mundo Imperial in Acapulco on Tuesday night.
Jacopo Berrettini led 3-6, 7-6(3), 2-1 when the 78th-ranked Otte could note continue.
Amazingly enough, both Berrettini brothers got retirements on Tuesday. Matteo Berrettini advanced when Alex Molcan called it quits trailing 6-1, 1-0.
Jacopo Berrettini will next face the winner of the match between Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 8 seed, and Mexican wild card Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez.
