Metz Open: Norrie beats Moutet to reach final
The Brit will face the winner of the match between American Alex Michelsen, the No 8 seed, and French qualifier Benjamin Bonzi for the title
Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie reached the final of the Metz Open by winning against Frenchman Corentin Moutet 6-2, 7-6 (5) at the Arènes de Metz on Friday.
This is the 15th ATP singles final for Norrie and his first since February 2023.
Norrie, ranked No 57, will face the winner of the match between American Alex Michelsen, the No 8 seed, and French qualifier Benjamin Bonzi for the title on Saturday.
Ahead of his win today, Norrie beat Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (3-6, 6-4, 6-3), French lucky loser Luca Van Assche (6-3, 3-6, 6-1) and Belgian Zizou Bergs (6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-1).
Moutet, ranked No 66, won against Indian Sumit Nagal (7-5, 4-0 ret.), German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 7 seed (7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-3) and Russian Andrey Rublev, the top seed (walkover) earlier in the tournament.
