Qualifier Benjamin Bonzi beat qualifier Quentin Halys 6-3, 7-6 (1) to advance to the last 4 of the Metz Open at the Arènes de Metz on Thursday.
Bonzi, ranked No 124, will play the winner of the match between American Alex Michelsen, the No 8 seed, and Chinese Yunchaokete Bu next.
Benjamin Bonzi won against Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut (7-6 (3), 6-3) and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed (6-4, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Metz tournament, Halys, ranked No 84, won against lucky loser Theo Papamalamis (6-3, 6-1) and edged out lucky loser Pierre-Hugues Herbert (6-1, 4-6, 6-4).
