Roberto Bautista Agut defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-2 on Thursday evening. He’ll face the winner of the match between Swiss qualifier Antoine Bellier and Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor in the next round
Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, the No 5 seed, defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Mallorca Open at Mallorca Country Club on Thursday evening.
Bautista Agut, ranked No 20, will play the winner of the match between Swiss qualifier Antoine Bellier and Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor next.
The 34-year-old Spaniard won against Japanese qualifier Taro Daniel (6-4, 7-6 (4)) and Australian Nick Kyrgios (W/O) in the previous rounds.
In the previous round, Medvedev, ranked No 1, beat Aslan Karatsev (4-6, 6-3, 6-2).
He reached the final in Halle last week, losing to Hubert Hurkacz, but is unable to enter Wimbledon due to the tournament organisers’ ban on Russian and Belarusian players.
