Medvedev gets a court named after him in France
Daniil Medvedev’s kit sponsor Lacoste joined forces with National Sports Agency of France to dedicate a hard court in Grasse to the Russian
Daniil Medvedev may have ended the 2024 season without winning a title on the ATP Tour but finished the year on a moral high as his kit sponsor Lacoste honoured the Russian by naming a court in France after him.
Lacoste, the high-end apparel brand based out of Paris, joined forces with the National Sports Agency of France and dedicated a hard court in Grasse to Medvedev.
Medvedev unveiled the court to his fans by posting about it on X (formerly Twitter). The cemented playing area, coloured in green and blue, pays tribute to the 2021 US Open winner’s love for video games, with the baselines featuring typical controller graphics marked ‘Player 1’ and ‘Player 2’ along with Medvedev’s logo.
Medvedev has been sponsored by Lacoste since 2019 and the two parties are certain to remain in association until 2026.
Interestingly, the racquet used by world No 5 is made by Tecnifibre — a company owned by Lacoste. In January 2023, the French luxury sports fashion brand unveiled the Russian’s video-game-code-inspired signature logo.
