Finn Otto Virtanen edged out American Sebastian Korda, the No 5 seed, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 6-4 to reach the second round of the Marseille Open at the Palais des sports.
Virtanen, ranked No 98, will play the winner of the match between Italian Luca Nardi and German Daniel Altmaier next.
