Finn Emil Ruusuvuori moved into the second round of the Marseille Open by beating Frenchman Luca Van Assche 7-6 (2), 6-4 at the Palais des sports.
Ruusuvuori, ranked No 55, will play Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 5 seed, next.
