Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 6 seed, defeated German Maximilian Marterer 6-4, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Marseille Open at the Palais des sports on Monday evening.
Musetti, ranked No 27, will play the winner of the match between Tomas Machac and Andy Murray next.
