Australian Jordan Thompson reached the second round of the Mallorca Open by winning against Frenchman Richard Gasquet, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 6-4 at Mallorca Country Club.
Thompson, ranked No 71, will play the winner of the match between Spanish wildcard Feliciano López and Australian Max Purcell next.
