Alejandro Tabilo defeated Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4 to win the Mallorca Open title, his second of the season and his first on grass.

The Chilean was in fine form, easing to a straight-sets win to continue his streak of excellent grass-court showings this week.

Having won the ASB Classic in January, and also reached the final in his home country of Chile the following month, Tabilo has enjoyed a breakthrough season on tour. He also reached the semi-finals of the Italian Open in May, taking down the then-world No 1 Novak Djokovic en route to the last four in Rome.

While his abilities on clay courts was well-known, Tabilo has pleasantly surprised spectators with his highly adept movement on grass courts also.

He heads into Wimbledon with the perfect preparation, having lifted his first title of the surface, while also sitting at a career-best ranking of No 24 in the world which means he will be seeded at SW19.

Before he heads over to London, however, Tabilo will have the chance to complete a rare singles and doubles title sweep when returns to court later today for the men’s doubles final.

Ahead of his victory, Tabilo, ranked No 24, beat Kazakh Alexander Shevchenko (6-3, 6-2), Jakub Mensik (6-4, 6-4) and Frenchman Gael Monfils, the No 6 seed (2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3)).
