Argentinian Guido Pella edged out American Marcos Giron 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3) to advance to the second round of the Mallorca Open at Mallorca Country Club on Sunday.
Pella, ranked No 333, will face No 4 seed Adrian Mannarino next.
