American Alex Michelsen advanced to the quarter-finals of the Mallorca Open by winning against Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 3 seed, 7-6 (5), 6-4 at Mallorca Country Club on Tuesday.
Michelsen, ranked No 62, will face the winner of the match between Austrian Sebastian Ofner and Italian Luciano Darderi, the No 5 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the 19-year-old American beat Portuguese Nuno Borges (6-3, 7-6 (4)).
