Mallorca Open: Mensik advances to quarter-finals

Jakub Mensik edged out Italian wildcard Fabio Fognini 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Mallorca Open at Mallorca Country Club on Wednesday.

Mensik, ranked No 85, will face Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 4 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Mallorca tournament, Jakub Mensik won against American Christopher Eubanks, the No 8 seed (6-3, 3-6, 6-1).

Fognini, ranked No 97, beat Dutch lucky loser Gijs Brouwer (7-6 (4), 7-6 (5)) in the previous round of the Mallorca tournament.
