South African qualifier Lloyd Harris defeated Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin 7-6 (5), 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Mallorca Open at Mallorca Country Club on Tuesday.
Harris, ranked No 298, will play the winner of the match between Russian lucky loser Pavel Kotov and Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the second seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the South African won against Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles, the No 7 seed (6-2, 7-6 (2)).
Safiullin, ranked No 94, beat Jordanian qualifier Abdullah Shelbayh (6-1, 6-4) in the previous round of the Mallorca tournament.
