Mallorca Open: surging Eubanks wins maiden ATP title
Christopher Eubanks won the title on Saturday evening against Adrian Mannarino
American Christopher Eubanks won the Mallorca Open final by defeating Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 4 seed, 6-1, 6-4 at Mallorca Country Club on Saturday evening.
It has been a tremendous season for the 27-year-old American. He will make his top-50 debut on Monday, rising from 77 to approximately 43, after starting the season at 123 and making his top 100 debut this spring.
Eubanks saved five match points to get through his semi-final against Lloyd Harris in dramatic fashion, but breezed past the talented Frenchman on Saturday, never facing a break point and converting all three of his break point opportunities to win in 63 minutes.

“It means the world. It just means the world, man,” an emotional Eubanks said post-match interview. “It means a lot of the hard work I’ve been putting in, the ups and downs throughout my career, it all is coming together now at this point in my career. It’s just a testament to the hard work. Now I just want to keep working even harder to feel this feeling even more.”
Eubanks, ranked No 77, beat lucky loser Alex Michelsen (6-3, 6-7 (6), 7-5), No 3 seed Ben Shelton (6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (2)), French lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech (7-6 (5), 7-6 (4)) and South African qualifier Lloyd Harris (4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (9)) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of the Mallorca tournament, Mannarino, ranked No 43, beat Argentinian Guido Pella (3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3), Corentin Moutet (7-5, 6-2) and German Yannick Hanfmann (7-6 (4), 6-4).
