Defending champion Medvedev books spot in Mallorca Open quarter-finals

Top seed and defending champion Daniil Medvedev defeated Aslan Karatsev 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the last eight of the Mallorca Open at Mallorca Country Club on Wednesday evening.
World No 1 Medvedev will face Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, the No 5 seed, next. Bautista Agut advanced to the quarter-finals when Nick Kyrgios pulled out before their match due to an abdominal strain.
Karatsev, ranked No 43, won against Spaniard wildcard Jaume Munar (3-6, 6-1, 6-3) in the previous round.
