Spaniard Rafael Nadal advanced to the third round of the Madrid Masters by winning against Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 10 seed, 7-6 (6), 6-3 at the Caja Magica on Saturday afternoon.
Nadal, who scored his first Top 20 win since the 2022 ATP finals, avenged a straight-set loss to the De Minaur last week in Barcelona. The five-time Madrid champion will play Argentinian Pedro Cachin in the third round.
The 37-year-old Spaniard defeated American wildcard Darwin Blanch (6-1, 6-0) ahead of his victory.
