Lehecka reaches maiden Masters semi-final, Medvedev injured, Madrid semi-finals set

No 30 seed Jiri Lehecka reached the last four of the Madrid Masters when Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, retired at the Caja Magica on Thursday evening.
Lehecka, ranked No 31, led 6-4 when Medvedev, ranked No 4, pulled out on Thursday evening at the Caja Magica.
Jiri Lehecka will face Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime next, while Taylor Fritz and Andrey Rublev will square off in the lower-half semi-final.
Lehecka won against Serb qualifier Hamad Medjedovic (7-5, 6-4), Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro (6-4, 7-6 (7)) and Spaniard Rafael Nadal (7-5, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament, the Russian beat Italian Matteo Arnaldi (2-6, 6-4, 6-4), American Sebastian Korda, the No 25 seed (5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3) and Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 17 seed (7-6 (3), 6-4).
