Serb Miomir Kecmanovic moved into the second round of the Madrid Masters by defeating Chinese Zhizhen Zhang 6-3, 6-2 at the Caja Magica on Thursday.
Kecmanovic, ranked No 66, will play No 5 seed Casper Ruud next.
