Madrid Masters: Auger-Aliassime moves into last 16 as Mensik retires

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime advanced to the last 16 of the Madrid Masters when Jakub Mensik retired on Monday evening at the Caja Magica.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 35, led 6-1, 1-0 when Mensik, ranked No 74, pulled out on Monday evening at the Caja Magica, having struggled with injury.
The Canadian will face the winner of the match between No 29 seed Cameron Norrie and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 5 seed, next.
Felix Auger-Aliassime edged out Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (4-6, 6-1, 6-4) and won against Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 19 seed (6-0, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament, Jakub Mensik defeated German Yannick Hanfmann (6-4, 7-6 (3)) and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 9 seed (6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3).
