Madrid Masters: Altmaier ousts Fils to make third round
Daniel Altmaier won against Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-3 on Friday. He’ll play the winner of the match between Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 8 seed, and Jack Draper in the next round

German Daniel Altmaier reached the third round of the Madrid Masters by winning against Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 31 seed, 6-2, 6-3 at the Caja Magica on Friday.
Altmaier, ranked No 61, will play the winner of the match between Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 8 seed, and Jack Draper next.
Ahead of his victory, the German beat Spanish wildcard Martin Landaluce (6-1, 7-5).
