American Frances Tiafoe, the No 5 seed, defeated Spaniard Jaume Munar 7-6 (5), 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Lyon Open at Parc de la Tête d’or on Tuesday.
Tiafoe, ranked No 26, will play Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech next.
