Lyon Open: Mpetshi Perricard upsets Bublik to reach final

French wildcard Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard won against Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the second seed, 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the final of the Lyon Open at Parc de la Tête d’or on Friday.
Mpetshi Perricard, ranked No 117, will face Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 6 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the 20-year-old Frenchman, the youngest finalist in the history of the Lyon event, defeated Italian Lorenzo Sonego (6-3, 6-4), Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (walkover) and qualifier Hugo Gaston (6-4, 4-6, 6-3).
Bublik, ranked No 19, won against Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-4, 6-2) and Russian Pavel Kotov (6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
