German Dominik Koepfer edged out Spanish lucky loser Javier Barranco Cosano 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4 to reach the second round of the Lyon Open at Parc de la Tête d’or on Monday afternoon.
Koepfer, ranked No 67, will play top seed Ugo Humbert next.
