Lyon Open: Darderi into semi-finals as Rinderknech pulls out

The Italian will face Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 6 seed, for a place in the final

Italian Luciano Darderi moved into the semi-finals of the Lyon Open after Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech withdrew before the match at Parc de la Tête d’or on Thursday.

Darderi, ranked No 47, will face Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 6 seed, next.

Earlier in the week, the 22-year-old Italian won against Japanese qualifier Taro Daniel (7-5, 7-6 (3)) and Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 3 seed (7-6 (4), 6-3).


Rinderknech, ranked No 73, edged out Daniel Evans (6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (6)) and beat American Frances Tiafoe, the No 5 seed (7-6 (7), 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Lyon tournament.
