Bublik battles into Geneva semi-finals

Alexander Bublik, the second seed, advanced to the last four of the Lyon Open with a 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-3 defeat of Russia’s Pavel Kotov at Parc de la Tête d’or on Thursday evening.

Bublik, ranked No 19, will play the winner of the match between French wildcard Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and French qualifier Hugo Gaston next.

The Kazakh beat Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round of the Lyon tournament.

Kotov, ranked No 57, advanced to the quarter-finals with wins over Argentinian lucky loser Pedro Cachin (6-1, 6-4) and French wildcard Alexandre Muller (7-6 (8), 6-1).
