Los Cabos Open: Zverev reaches semis; faces Thompson next

Germany’s Alexander Zverev, the top seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Los Cabos Open by beating Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-3, 6-4 at the Cabo del Mar Sports Center on Thursday.

Zverev, ranked No 6, will play Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 8 seed, next.

The pair are tied at 1-1 in their head-to-head with Thompson winning their most recent encounter in Tokyo last year.

Ahead of his win today, the German won against Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (6-3, 6-0).

Kokkinakis, ranked No 103, edged out Jack Draper (4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4) and defeated Daniel Evans (6-4, 6-2) earlier in the week.
