Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 8 seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Los Cabos Open by winning against American qualifier Emilio Nava 7-6 (5), 6-3 at the Cabo del Mar Sports Center on Wednesday.
Thompson, ranked No 40, will face American Alex Michelsen next. He is through to his fourth quarter-finals of the season.
In the previous round of the tournament, the Australian defeated Mexican wildcard Ernesto Escobedo (6-4, 6-3).
Nava, ranked No 146, beat Argentinian wildcard Diego Schwartzman (6-4, 6-3) prior to this match
