American Alex Michelsen defeated Frenchman Constant Lestienne 6-3, 7-6 (3) to move into the second round of the Los Cabos Open at the Cabo del Mar Sports Center on Monday night.
Michelsen, ranked No 74, will play No 3 seed Alex De Minaur next.
