Japan Open: Thompson takes out Ruud

Australian Jordan Thompson won against Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 3 seed, 7-6 (5), 6-1 to advance to the second round of the Japan Open at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Thursday afternoon.
Thompson, ranked No 29, will play Japanese wildcard Kei Nishikori next.
