Japan Open: Shelton beats Opelka in three sets to make second round
The American will face Argentinian Mariano Navone in the next round

No 8 seed Ben Shelton edged out Reilly Opelka 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to move into the second round of the Japan Open on Thursday.
Shelton, ranked No 17, will face Argentinian Mariano Navone next at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo.
