Fifth seed Tommy Paul moved into the quarter-finals of the Japan Open by winning against Mackenzie McDonald 6-4, 6-2 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Wednesday.
Paul, ranked No 12, will face the winner of the match between American Ben Shelton and Australian Jordan Thompson next.
In the previous round of the Tokyo Open, Tommy Paul defeated German Daniel Altmaier (3-6, 6-1, 6-3).
McDonald, ranked No 37, won against Australian Max Purcell (7-5, 6-4) in the first round of the Tokyo Open.
