Japan Open: Nishikori reaches last eight
The Japanese pro won against Jordan Thompson in straight sets on Saturday

Japanese wildcard Kei Nishikori moved into the quarter-finals of the Japan Open by defeating Australian Jordan Thompson 6-2, 6-3 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Saturday.
Nishikori, ranked No 200, will play the winner of the match between Japanese wildcard Yoshihito Nishioka and Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Tokyo Open, the 34-year-old Japanese won against Croat Marin Cilic (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).
Thompson, ranked No 29, beat Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 3 seed (7-6 (5), 6-1) in the previous round of the Tokyo Open.
