Japan Open: Fils upsets top seed Fritz in first round

Frenchman Arthur Fils won against American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to move into the second round of the Japan Open on Thursday.

Fils, ranked No 24, will play Italian Matteo Berrettini next at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo.

This was his fifth career win over a Top 10 ranked opppnent.
