Japan Open: Coric books spot in quarter-finals
Borna Coric beat Brandon Nakashima 7-5, 6-2 on Thursday. He’ll face the winner of the match between Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 7 seed, and Japanese qualifier Rio Noguchi in the next round
Croat Borna Coric, the No 9 seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Japan Open by winning against American Brandon Nakashima 7-5, 6-2 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Thursday.
Coric, ranked No 28, will play the winner of the match between Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 7 seed, and Japanese qualifier Rio Noguchi next.
The Croat beat Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis (6-4, 7-6 (4)) ahead of his victory. Nakashima, ranked No 47, won against Japanese wildcard Shintaro Mochizuki (6-3, 6-2).
