Japan Open: Berrettini books spot in second round
The Italian will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, and Frenchman Arthur Fils in the next round

Italy’s Matteo Berrettini defeated Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-4 to reach the second round of the Japan Open at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The Italian improved to 4-0 lifetime against Van de Zandschulp. He also improves to 15-0 on the tour against lower-ranked players in 2024.
Berrettini, a three-time winner on the ATP Tour this year and ranked No 45, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, and Frenchman Arthur Fils next.
