Ivanisevic leaves Turin to be with his son, who has tested positive for Covid-19
Marian Vajda will take care of the coaching duties alone for Novak Djokovic at the ATP Finals this week
Goran Ivanisevic, one of the coaches of Novak Djokovic, has left the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin because his son has contracted Covid-19. Goran’s son is feeling fine, but the former world No 2 wanted to be with him.
Djokovic arrived in Turin with both of his coaches; Ivanisevic and Marian Vajda. That is usually not the case, since Novak prefers to have only one of his coaches with him at the time, but they tend to be all together for the Nitto ATP Finals.
Along with Vajda, Djokovic’s entourage in Turin includes physiotherapist Ulises Badio and fitness coach Marco Panichi.
Djokovic begins his Turin campaign on Monday versus Casper Ruud of Norway, at 2pm local time.
Ivanisevic has been part of Djokovic’s team since Wimbledon 2019 and has been vital to the Serbian’s success since.
