Indian Wells Masters: Zverev overcomes De Minaur to set up Alcaraz clash
The German holds a 5-3 edge in head-to-head over Alcaraz, including wins in their last two meetings
German Alexander Zverev, the No 6 seed, won against Acapulco champion Alex de Minaur, the No 10 seed, in three sets to advance to the last eight of the Indian Wells Masters on Tuesday.
De Minaur, who won the Mexican Open title earlier this month, looked set to extend his winning streak to eight when he won the first set 7-5. But Zverev bounced back to take the next two sets and complete the 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in two hours and 47 minutes.
The Australian had won the last clash between the pair, at the United Cup in January. Zverev has now won seven of the nine meetings against De Minaur.
Zverev, ranked No 6 in the world, will play defending champion and world No 2 Carlos Alcaraz, of Spain, next. The German holds a 5-3 edge in the head-to-head, including wins in their last two meetings and wins in four of their five meetings on hardcourts.

Earlier in the week, De Minaur, ranked No 10, beat Japanese Taro Daniel (6-1, 6-2) and Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 20 seed (7-5, 6-0).
