Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori upset Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, the No 22 seed, 7-6 (5), 6-2 to reach the third round of the Indian Wells Masters on Friday.
Ruusuvuori, ranked No 59 in the world, will face German Alexander Zverev, the No 12 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Finn benefited from the retirement of Frenchman Constant Lestienne (6-4, 4-1) in the first round.
