Indian Wells Masters: Rune sets up battle of the ages against Wawrinka in third round

Danish teenager Holger Rune, the No 7 seed, won against American Mackenzie McDonald 7-5, 6-3 to reach the third round of the Indian Wells Masters on Saturday.

The win set up an intriguing battle of the ages against Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka in the third round.

This will be the second meeting between Rune and Wawrinka after the Danish teen won the first one last year at the Paris Masters in three sets which ended on a dramatic note.

McDonald, ranked No 53, beat Serb Filip Krajinovic (6-3, 6-0) in the previous round of the Indian Wells Tennis Masters.
