Indian Wells Masters: Michelsen through to third round

No 31 seed Alex Michelsen moved into the third round of the Indian Wells Masters by beating qualifier Colton Smith 6-3, 6-4 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Friday.

Michelsen, ranked No 32, will face the winner of the match between Chinese Bu Yunchaokete and Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 5 seed, next.

Smith, ranked No 261, won against Italian Flavio Cobolli (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) in the previous round of the Indian Wells Tennis Masters.
