Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan advanced to the second round of the Houston Open by beating Frenchman Benoit Paire 7-6 (13), 6-4 at River Oaks Country Club on Tuesday.
Galan, ranked No 83, will play No 4 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry next.
