Hamburg Open: Ruud recovers from slow start to reach quarter-finals
Casper Ruud defeated Cristian Garin 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday and will face Frenchman Arthur Fils in the next round
Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Open by winning against Chilean qualifier Cristian Garin 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 at Am Rothenbaum on Thursday afternoon.
Ruud, ranked No 4, began slowly and found himself down a set and 2-1 before he hit form, winning five straight games to level and then ease through the third. He will play Frenchman Arthur Fils next.

Ahead of his victory, the Norwegian beat Argentinian Sebastian Baez (6-3, 1-6, 6-3).
Garin, ranked No 120, defeated Hugo Dellien (6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-3) in the previous round of the Hamburg tournament.
